Ellis Howe is a beautiful 18th century English Lakeland cottage, with superb views of Coniston Old Man and the surrounding fells, in the heart of ‘Swallows and Amazons’ and Beatrix Potter country, in the Lake District National Park.

Ellis Howe has annually been awarded a Visit Britain 4 star rating, and is one of the premier Lake District luxury cottages available to rent.The cottage is managed and cared for by the owners. It is equipped to a high standard, and we do our best to provide everything you might need for your holiday The cottage is comfortably furnished for five; please note that it is a “non-smoking” cottage and we do not accept pets.

A feature of the cottage is the dining room extension, with an oak floor and an attractive mezzanine gallery, which allows you to dine in comfort, whilst enjoying glorious uninterrupted views of Coniston Old Man, Dow Crag and the surrounding fells. The gallery has proved to be a fun ‘den’ in which children can play!

Torver is a small village but has two excellent pub restaurants which are within walking distance of the cottage. The village of Coniston is three miles away with plenty of shops, and a number of pubs and cafes. Coniston Water is a short walk away from the cottage over Torver Common.
